 What is Benkey?
Benkey is Dataflow's keyboard redirector for Bengali fonts.
This program allows you to use Dataflow's high quality Bengali fonts in Windows
based DTP packages such as Adobe PageMaker for creating professional
publications.
What else do you need?
To use this program, you must purchase Bengali fonts (such as Alpana
or Abhijeet) from Dataflow. You should also have a properly installed, working
PageMaker (Ver 5 or 6.5) under either Win 3.x or Win 95/98. Adobe Type
Manager is required to handle Dataflow's Bengali PFB format fonts.
Besides the PageMaker, Benkey can be used with other DTP and word
processing programs such as Quark Express, WinWord, WordPad, etc. as well
as in various drawing and painting programs.
Why Benkey?
The Bengali script requires around 300 distinctly shaped characters (including
single shape conjuncts) and their combinations for producing professional quality
documents. Benkey offers a simple way to form these Bengali character shapes
using the phonetic keyboard approach.
It uses a single link key to form two, three and four character conjuncts.
