Dataflow group of companies comprises of Dataflow Software
Solutions, Nitek Systems and Dataflow Display Systems Pvt Ltd, operating primarily from Mumbai, India.
Dataflow Software was founded by Mr Rajendra (alias Rajiv) Bhagwat, in 1985. After doing the Bachelor of Engineering
(Computer Sc) from V. J. T. I., Mumbai University and M. Tech (Computer Sc.) from Indian
Institute of Technology (IIT Bombay), Mumbai; he joined the industry in 1979.
Experience from M/s Patni Computers Pvt Ltd and M/s Minicomp Pvt Ltd
gave him a head-start in exploring the emerging technologies at the time
and enter the market when PCs were becoming popular worldwide. Prior to that, he
had acquired the experience in Commercial and Systems projects done in U.S.A., Sweden, Hong
Kong and other countries.
One of the first developments from Dataflow included Devanagari word processor on an
Apple II in 1984, which was later transferred to a PC clone to become a
full-fledged DTP application. Back then, Macs were the only
alternative to big typesetting equipment. Entry of cheaper machines
opened up this technology to a wide variety of printing houses.
Thus, Devyani, the first DTP package for Indian languages in late 1986
started off the development of softwares for other Indian languages
and their fonts. Several Newspaper and Magazine installations followed
and the mushrooming DTP bureaus quickly standardised on Dataflow's
software products.
Among the most prominent customers, the Times of India group
was the first large group to embrace Devyani DTP. It is used both
by The Maharashtra Times and by The Navbharat Times. The Indian
Express, Sakal and the Tarun Bharat group were also among the early
followers. Newspapers from Lucknow, Delhi, Aurangabad, Goa and other
far away places started using Devyani. Today, in the city of Mumbai
alone, more than 22 newspapers use Dataflow's software.
During the years, various systems & commercial softwares have been delivered
catering to a wide variety of customers. These include the softwares for the DTP
industry in general and the Newspapers in particular, the software development segment,
the mechanical industry, etc. Recently, the shift has been to also include the Web based
and the Linux based development using the standardised protocols. Please take a look
at the Quick Links on the Home page.
Nitek Systems, handled by Mr Nitin Bhagwat, is active in the sales and supply
of Computer Hardware and Networking products. An impressive number of customers
have availed of their computer infrastructure through Nitek.
Dataflow Display Systems, a Private Limited firm, was formed to cater to the
demands where a combination of Hardware, Software and even mechanical systems
is required. DDSPL has introduced CNC machines and other special purpose machines
involving these mixed technologies. The current activities have been enlarged to
include the Smart card based and the RFID based solutions.
Active in the computer field since 1985, Dataflow has been involved in numerous
projects. The company has done pioneering research in some of the fields and
successfully sold the products based on it. The ability to adapt to the emerging
computer technologies has always been Dataflow's strong point. The company has
profited by using its knowledge base in Software, Hardware, Web technologies and
Graphics.
