 Why the name 'Dataflow'?
There are many reasons behind the name. Initially, we started off by developing
communications related software - so 'flow'. There was the realisation
that in practical life, the flow (and management) of data decides the prime
system characteristics. If the data (structures and volumes) is well defined,
writing software becomes easy and natural. To keep that always in mind, the
name 'Dataflow' was chosen.
How long have you been in Software business?
We started Dataflow in 1985! That makes Dataflow a well established company,
unlike many startups which are 1 or 2 year olds. Our directors have been working
with the computers since 1979. We have kept up with the pace of changes in
the software industry and have resources to handle all kinds of software
development: Systems, Applications, Embedded (microcontroller based) as well
as Web based.
Do you have any 'Card based' products?
Dataflow has been active in supplying software for electronic access control
systems since 1991. These systems used plastic cards with no visible bar codes
or magnetic strips but with invisible embedded machine readable codes. Recently,
as a joint venture, we have started supplying conventional and Smart Cards. We
have recently started a 'cards division' handling software for Smart cards and WAP
based technologies.
Do you do websites/portals?
Yes, we do. The activity started in 1997. Take a look at
www.manashakti.org. This site has a few hundred pages and is
growing day by day. Marathi portion of this bi-lingual site is one of
the most clear, readable section amongst many Indian language sites.
